Although it’s a basic part of training, it’s important to have the right lightweight shorts and boxing shirts to wear. That way you can change as often as needed, wash them daily, and stay dry throughout each different training routine. Some materials are better suited for casual wear, such as cotton, but shorts and boxing shirts made with a polyester blend will keep moisture away and dry faster. Boxing shirts constructed of polyester or a cotton/poly blend will also typically wear better and last longer. That’s an important characteristic, considering that most of your boxing shirts and workout apparel will be worn and washed almost every day of the week. If you factor-in all aspects of training, your boxing apparel is typically worn while doing road work, while going through your boxing workout, strength and conditioning training, and even sparring. Long, hard days of training can take a toll on your gloves, gear, boxing shirts, and other apparel. Extra steps can be taken in how you care for your boxing shirts and apparel to make it all last longer.

One way is to not leave your sweaty gear in your bag after your workout. Instead, take it out to dry in the open air and wash it as soon as you get home. Otherwise, the sweat, oils and, in some cases, blood engrain themselves deeper into the fibers of the fabric and are harder to remove. Also, washing all your boxing shirts and apparel on a cold-water setting is easier on the fabrics than warm or hot water would be.

You want your apparel to be fashionable, but even more, be functional. That way, through selecting the right fabrics, handling it in the proper way and caring for it correctly, you will likely get more rounds out of everything you wear.
