Boxing Groin Protectors
Protection, coverage and comfort are imperative in a quality groin and no-foul protector, guard, or cup for boxing and combat sports training, sparring, and competition demands. We offer an expansive selection of groin protectors with added abdominal, kidney, hips, and wraparound coverage options from a full line of TITLE Boxing, Fighting, Pro Mex, Rival, Adidas, and more . . . with men, women, and youth models and sizes.
Aside from a head guard and mouthpiece, the next most important piece of protective gear a competitive fighter needs is a groin protector. One is needed by any athlete who is interested in sparring or actual boxing competitions.
The type of groin protector boxing competition requires is similar for both amateur or professional athletes, depending upon the level and amount of protection you desire. The style of groin protector you use is also similar for both sparring and competition. Ideally, you should use the same style when sparring and competing, so you get used to how it fits and feels.
The specific boxing cup design you choose will provide various results.
For instance, a Groin/Ab Protector style gives a minimal amount of protection but is also the least restrictive of all protectors. It most easily fits beneath all styles of trunks. This style of boxing cup is ideal for amateurs or youth, because it has the most compact design and simplistic fit of any groin protector boxing.
The Deluxe Groin/Hips models offer moderate protection of the lower abs, groin, and hips. This specific design also helps absorb punches to the hips, which can accumulate and slow down your movement. Another benefit of this groin protector design is that it provides some padding, but not so much that you can’t move freely from side to side.
The Full Groin/Ab/Hips type of protector provides the most coverage of the lower abdominals, groin, and hip flexors. It is also best for professionals due to the frequency and potential damage from low blows. The complete wrap around padding is highly protective but can inhibit movement due to its coverage.
Overall, you want a design that offers protection but doesn’t make it hard to move laterally or easily back-and-forth. You want as much coverage as possible while still being able to bend freely at the hips while ducking or blocking punches.
FAQs
Our groin protectors have a size guide on their individual pages but you can also find that on our TITLE Boxing Size Charts page.
This is completely up to the fighter, but we highly recommend wearing during training. This will accomplish two things, one you will have the added protection and support needed as accidents in training happen all the time, and two it will get you used to wearing as you will have to during your fight.
Yes, referees and/or doctors will check for this before you fight and if you are not wearing one you will not be able to compete.
You want a groin protector with thick enough but not stiff padding. This will allow you to move forward, backward, and laterally without much restriction.
