Mid-Top Boxing Shoes
Known for their support, along with the freedom of movement they allow, the mid-top boxing shoe has become the preferred style of most fighters today. Their moderate height provides full ankle support without sacrificing the ability to move quickly, turn fast, and pivot on every angle. Foot speed and mobility don’t make a fighter, but they’reimportant factors in laying the right foundation.
Shoes are an important part of a boxer’s foundation and a cornerstone to building all other basics properly. Having the correct design to fit your individual style is important from the very beginning, before any punch has been thrown or step has been taken.
Boxing shoes range in various heights to accommodate a range of physical builds and how a fighter moves in the ring. While high top shoes may provide more ankle support and low tops allow for greater flexibility, mid top shoes are designed to be the best of both worlds.
Mid top boxing shoes are high enough to provide some support for the ankle and Achilles tendon without impeding a boxer’s movement. They are also low enough that they don’t restrict the athlete in any way and won’t slow a fighter down by adding extra weight or bulk.
Something to consider is that over the course of a bout, sweat ends up being absorbed into the shoes. Even though it’s a small amount, every bit of extra weight a fighter must carry around can slow him or her down. Mid top shoes don’t contain enough fabric to absorb much additional water weight, but still provide support for critical joints and ligaments that make up the ankle. For this reason, TITLE Boxing and Nike design most boxing shoes in this mid-top style.
Mid top shoes are supportive enough, flexible enough, and streamlined enough to address every aspect a fighter should be considering when he enters the ring. TITLE Boxing and Nike Machomai take the guesswork out of it for the fighters with the most practical height.
FAQs
There are benefits to all. If you need more ankle support than a low-top but don’t want a tall boot, we recommend the mid as it provide enough support without the height of a high-top.
We carry half sizes in some of our styles. If you do not see half sizes in a certain style, we do not offer them and recommend looking at a different style.
We have youth sizes that start at size 1 (typically for a 6-8 year old child), but they are only available in some styles. If you do not see youth sizes, please shop other styles.
We recommend all of our TITLE Brand shoes. Each was designed with a specific purpose in mind. Some are thicker and heavier, some are lighter and thinner, and some are mesh for ventilation.
