One of the best ways to ensure success in the sport of boxing is by learning and practicing proper fundamentals. This applies to the very beginning of your boxing training, as well as revisiting the basics even as you progress.

Proper execution of the basics comes in the way of good coaching, but also regularly working on performing every movement with sound boxing techniques. It is always better to learn and constantly perform each move correctly, rather than develop improper techniques and bad habits that must be corrected later, so take the time to get it right and rehearse it regularly.

There are several types of boxing training gear or tools to help you to always adhere to good, basic form. Correct boxing techniques can consistently be reinforced by using pieces of equipment that help you maintain good form. Tools like Elbows-In, Fast Feet and the Perfect Stance serve as great reminders as you go through each workout. Form is always more important than speed or power. Maintaining a balanced stance, keeping your hands up as you defend or throw punches, tucking your elbows in to protect your midsection, and keeping your chin tucked-in to avoid getting hit squarely, are common, ongoing lapses in basic boxing techniques. These are just a few fundamentals that fighters need to be reminded of regularly. Since a coach cannot watch every fighter and every move they make, it’s important to utilize the right boxing training gear to serve as reminders. They help establish and continually reinforce executing fundamental boxing techniques with the exact form.

What you do in training is what you will do in the ring, so attention to details and training right is the only way to get the most out of your boxing experience. The boxing techniques you use are the most important, fundamental part of that.

FAQs

We have a variety of options to help improve your footwork. Perfect stance (PRFST) keeps your feet the ideal distance apart, our fast feet (FF) provide a little resistance for pulling your feet back to the correct distance apart and our agility cube (XAGCB) is the perfect tool to make sure your feet move the correct direction without crossing over each other.

We have a few shadow boxing resistance tools that help you focus more intensely on the punches you throw. We also recommend standing in front of a mirror while throwing punches one at a time and making sure you turn your fists all the way over. Standing in front of the mirror is also good practice to make sure your feet pivot and your body weight transfers between legs with each punch.

Some of our favorite tools are our head movement tools. Nothing beats a good slipping rope, but we also carry slipping bags to help you improve your head movement by getting in the habit of moving your head throughout the entire round.
