Boxing uniforms are a way for modern day gladiators and today’s elite competitors to set themselves apart. It makes them easily identifiable to judges and officials, as well as their family and fans.

Although competition sets, which consist of a pair of boxing trunks and a boxing jersey, are offered in a variety of colors, red and blue are the only two that can be used in national and international competitions, according to USA Boxing specifications. Local and regional bouts are less stringent so you will also see black, white, grey, and other designs being worn in the ring. Some fighters even opt for custom made ring outfits when competing in local or regional tournaments. However, specific colors are predominant in more elite competitions so that an athlete dressed in all red vs. all blue are more easily differentiated. Aside from the basic assignment of a designated corner, color-specific boxing uniforms are important for the purposes of judging, scoring, and awarding points. This even applies to wearing matching red or blue head gear, corresponding to their assigned corner and outfit. The amateur competition gloves used and assigned also follow the same color requirements.

When it comes to color, women’s boxing sets adhere to the same requirements of red or blue. However, TITLE Boxing also has women’s boxing sets that meet all the requirements and offer design features tailored specifically to women. These exclusive trunks and jersey combinations provide shorter length in the legs, a slenderer cut around the arms and neckline, and are made to provide a better fit.

Boxing uniforms, in general, are also about optimizing performance. They are constructed of lighter weight material that doesn’t absorb sweat. The lighter fabric flows more freely with an athlete’s movements. The material is also more flexible, so it doesn’t interfere with any bending, slipping, moving, or throwing motions that a boxer has to perform.

Outfitting yourself properly is important in any type of athletic performance, which is why boxing uniforms are built the way they are. They take into consideration the boxers, the officials, the fans, and everyone involved in the fighting experience.

FAQs

No, in most cases you do not need a complete set to compete. Boxing Trunks and a compression top or tank will be required. The boxing waist band does have to be a different color so that judges and referees are able to see where the punches land. We do recommend checking with your sanctioning bodies for competition apparel requirements.

We have sizing charts on all product pages. Please refer to those pages to find your closest measurements.

We do carry youth sets but not in all styles. We recommend reviewing the sizes available on the page. If you do not see your size, unfortunately it is not available at this time.
